Back pain has a cause worth finding.
Most back pain isn't a mystery — it's a joint, a disc, or a muscle doing a job it wasn't built for. The goal of the first visit is to find out which.

Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people see any doctor, and one of the most commonly mistreated. It gets managed with pills and rest when the underlying mechanics — a restricted joint, a disc under pressure, a weak or overloaded muscle group — never get addressed.
Chiropractic care is a conservative, drug-free option that a large body of evidence supports for mechanical low back pain. That's the honest framing: it helps a lot of people with the right kind of back pain, and the first step is finding out whether yours is that kind.
What it can look like
- A dull ache across the low back that won't settle
- Sharp or stabbing pain with certain movements
- Stiffness that's worst in the morning or after sitting
- Pain that travels into the hip, buttock, or leg
- Muscle spasm or a feeling that the back might "go out"
- Pain after lifting, a fall, a crash, or a long day on your feet
Common causes
- Restricted or irritated joints in the lumbar spine
- Disc injury — bulging, herniated, or degenerative
- Muscle strain from lifting, work, or sport
- Auto accidents and work injuries
- Posture and prolonged sitting or standing
How we approach back pain cause first, not just the symptom
You'll get a real exam with a real doctor who takes the time to figure out what's actually driving the pain. Then a hands-on plan built around your life — not a rushed visit and a rebooking.
- A thorough exam to identify the source, not just the sore spot
- Hands-on adjustment and soft-tissue care
- A plan to relieve the pain and rebuild the support around it
- Clear expectations — what should change, and by when
- Auto, workers' comp, Medicaid, VA, and commercial plans handled

Common questions
Do I need a referral?
For most plans, no. For a work injury in Delaware you can choose your own doctor with no referral at all. We'll verify your specific benefits before your visit.
Is the adjustment going to hurt?
It shouldn't. We adjust based on what your exam shows and what you're comfortable with, and we have gentler techniques for patients who want or need them.
What if my back pain came from a car accident or work?
Then it's an injury claim, and the documentation matters as much as the care. See our auto-accident and workers' comp pages — most of those patients pay nothing out of pocket.
When should I see someone urgently?
Severe pain after trauma, pain with fever, or any loss of bowel/bladder control or progressive weakness needs immediate medical attention — go to an emergency department, not a chiropractor.
This page is general education, not medical advice, and it isn't a substitute for an examination. Every case is different — the point of the first visit is to find out what's driving yours.
